How has technology changed your job?

The Daily Prompt

I don’t have a job. However, as a homeschooling mom technology has helped immensely. It has offered us the opportunity to learn from anywhere, which is very nice.

Honestly, I can’t really think of any job that is not changed in some way due to technology. .łç.

How often do you say “no” to things that would interfere with your goals?

The Daily Prompt

Not as often as I should & certainly not as often as I need to for the goals to be accomplished. This is a good question to begin a financial counseling appointment with, how nice. You calling me out? .łç.

Coffee, Cannabis, & Kirk #4 -The ‘Lost’ Parables of Jesus: The Lost Coin Luke 15: 8-10

The ‘Lost’ Parables of Jesus: The Lost Coin Luke (15: 8-10)

Good Morning! I hope your week is starting well. This morning Bryan continued his sermon series, The ‘Lost’ Parables of Jesus, with the story of the lost drachma, or coin. Now, these are two verses in Luke 15 that I am not surprised was stretched into an entire sermon. The only thing that the ESV Study Bible says about these verses is:

15:8 ten silver coins. Lit., “ten drachmas” (perhaps about 10 denarii, hence 10 days’ wages for a laborer).

ESV Study Bible
Parable of the Lost Piece of Silver by: Godefridus Schalcken.

The main points of the sermon are:

  • Just like the coin, the One has no idea he is lost.
  • The One was lost, but not forgotten.
  • The One was lost, but not ignored.
  • The One was lost, but was actively pursued.
  • The One was lost, but now is found.

There are a few fantastic quotes in this sermon. Look out for a generation “infatuated with moralistic, therapeutic, deism”; and “if you’ve boiled the Gospel down to ‘God will help you to live a better life, to feel better about yourself, & He’ll be there when you need him…’ if that’s the gospel you’re communicating, then you’re NOT communicating the POWER of the death & burial & resurrection of our LORD and Saviour. And finally,

The church has one task: To save sinners. So spend yourself and be spent on that task.

John Wesley -founder of the Methodist church

That last quote by Wesley is just off the cuff from Bryan and it is entirely too powerful. The language he used is beautiful in its imagery, “So spend yourself and be spent on that task”. It reminds me of Paul writing to Timothy, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7 ESV). Because Paul did spend his life and truly was himself spent on the task of discipleship. What do you think?

I look forward to any comments on the sermon. Hope you have a very blessed week! Happy Spring 🐰 🥚 🌳 🍃 🌸 🤧 ✌🏻

Who was your most influential teacher? Why?

The Daily Prompt

This is an interesting question as it uses the word “influential”. Oddly enough, I think it is my 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Peacock. I had just moved to Phoenix, Arizona, and switched from a private school to a public one. My teacher, Mrs. Peacock, read to us such wonderful stories as James and the Giant Peach and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, the latter being the focus of my answer.

When C. S. Lewis entered my life my imagination blossomed. I doubt teachers would be allowed to read it like Mrs. Peacock did, since it has a religious connotation, but I am so glad that was not high on the list for karen’s at the time. Anyhow, I went on to read the rest of the series after getting the books in a very much anticipated book order.

When I say that this book influenced my life, please understand that there was a very long time that I slept in my closet, praying to God to take me to Narnia. My closet had this absolutely amazing 70s faded floral wallpaper that remains a bit fluorescent in my memory. When I tell you that I found solace in that closet, well, that is a bit of an understatement. The closet became my safe place for a very long time. I am not speaking metaphorically at all; that tiny room became a very safe place for me.

All of this because of a book. I have not even mentioned how the reading of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and James and the Giant Peach and Pippi Longstocking Adventures and Willy Wonka, etc. opened a door to the library for me. The way she read the stories made me want to read for myself, even more so than I already did. I remember the library of my elementary school, and the looks on the librarian’s face with such fondness… and it all goes back to Mrs. Peacock.

What do you wish you could do more every day?

The Daily Prompt

Absolutely everything. As a physically disabled adult every single thing is difficult every day. I have a daily pain blog in which I list my pain level, usually a [4] but has been as high as [8] recently. I was unable to finish my degree due to migraine & pain, only to result in an inability to do what I want to do as a career. I have a list and a pile of boxes in my bedroom floor that just mocks me as it remains unmoved; I have a garage FULL of shite to go through.

I wish I could be a better mom. I wish I could have been better, but focusing on the present & future, I would like to be able to take better care of Rœgn. I wish I could be the mom that runs with her and takes her backpacking and whatnot… she is not outdoorsy, and that is mainly because she grew up with a disabled mom.

Every single thing.

What tattoo do you want and where would you put it?

The Daily Prompt

Wherever do I begin? I want so very many! My daughter wants to get one together; we haven’t decided exactly on the one just yet though. I want a Downton Abbey logo, bc I use it for pain relief as a focus tool. My right wrist, however, will be an undertaking.

Halloween 2007

I want the above… Rœgn as Alice, and then surrounding her the characters from the original cartoon. I would like them all on my right arm… and I might have MPH as the White Rabbit or the Mad Hatter… but if I do that I will have to find a new costume for MPF. 🤔 Perhaps she could be the one that MPH is not… yes. Okay! Idk, I don’t have pics of that just yet. The Unbirthday Party is on hold until the effing eagle flies away. But I digress~

This has always been a favorite.

If Rœgn doesn’t want to get matching one’s when she gets her first, the above will be the one I pick.

I doubt I will ever do this ⬆️ but damn, it is so BOSS.łç.

Thor’s Day 23.March.23

{pain} 4 {sleep} 8h 23m – quite decent mix of sleep.

good morning. Lady Diana woke me this morning, right before my alarm, as she was ready for breakfast. We got her a new “intelligence” toy – where we hide treats and she has to find them by moving pieces covering the treat. She figured it out pretty fast, but still enjoys it immensely.

We found Lady Diana a backpack for our pride trip.

I began this many hours ago… today my body decided to say “No” whenever I asked it to do something. Hope your day was better than mine! .łç.

What is one word that describes you?

The Daily Prompt
Crazy by: Ali Chris

I realize that most people don’t appreciate the term “crazy” – however, over time I have come to embrace & represent the term in a different way. I refer to myself as ‘the good kind of crazy,’ however you’d like to take that. A friend recently said that she wanted to take this word from my & Rœgn’s vocabulary; yeah, that will not be happening.łç.

{pain} 4ish I sincerely need to stretch. {sleep} 4h 10m… wtf. I stayed up late because my brain couldn’t stop…ugh.

Can’t Sleep by: Isla Dominic

Ohhhh, I feel so tired. I did not sleep well, which I do not understand. I have all my meds and we ran around for hours yesterday, which exhausted me. For whatever reason, after I laid down and got an hour of sleep, I woke up & was awake for several hours. Yesterday I felt so good after the deep sleep, and last night I didn’t get any deep sleep. As much as I want to tell you about my time at RISE yesterday, that must wait. Discussing anything is impossible at this moment. Talk Soon, Çėçēłįå ✌🏻
