Travelin’ Tuesday 29.August.23 -effing events in Effingham.

{pain} 5 – I’m having a bit of a TwoMonday; Rœgn & I have had words this morning, which always makes me feel terrible. {sleep} 8h 1m – & I slept hard. 5am came quick though… 🌅

My Ma is going to be in Effingham today, we were planning to be there as well… now we are meeting up, which is nice. I probably won’t be online as much, as now our ‘to do’ list has changed.

Have a lovely day. Tuesday is known as the most productive day in many different cultures.

Post Script: There’s a lot of hate in our country today & every day.

👉🏻Be the kindness in the room – the line – the parking lot – anywhere you find yourself today… because there is so much hate, anger, & violence in our country/ world now. We need to preemptively strike with kindness, love, and patience. Be excellent to each other. 🏵️

What’s your favorite time of day?

The Questioner

Well, dear Questioner, the simple answer is – whichever time I hurt the least.

🌞 I wake up early – thanks to my cat, Lady Diana. I seem to get the most accomplished in the mornings, and my coffee certainly tastes the best first thing. I also prefer the sunrise to the sunset. 🌅 I hope you’re having a lovely day! ✌🏻☕️

Saturn’s Day. 26.August.23 National Women’s Equality Day

{pain} 4 {sleep} 8h 5m – the pain from the quick turnaround on Wednesday, early Thursday morning, is just now beginning to leave me. I woke up relatively on time, but I’m still moving slowly.

Concerning ‘National Women’s Equality Day’ – I believe in celebrating the wins. I do not believe that women have achieved equality with men in our country; specifically with the 428 days
we have endured since Roe v. Wade was overturned… and everything that has occurred as a result.
However, I do believe in celebrating women at every opportunity!

Enjoy your day & let the women in your life know how much you appreciate everything they do!

Dang you, Thor’s Day, why must you follow yesterday? 24.Aug.23 – exhaustion.

{pain} IFH {sleep} Not sure, really. My watch didn’t record well bc I didn’t go to sleep until 5a. Woke at 10a & couldn’t get back to sleep.

The trip to Chicago was fun, but cramped. Becca has a tiny car & my ankles don’t like me very much today.

I have a head ache.
I’m so very tired.
I look forward to discussing it all further with you!

I intend on resting today & tomorrow – & working diligently over the weekend with all of you! Take care, friends. This is a difficult time for us as a species; probably easier if we muddle through together.

Thursday, August 24st, 2023 -TDP My Name.

Where did your name come from?

The Questioner

I appreciate this question for a couple reasons, dear Questioner. One, I love my name. Two, Gen-Z has decided their names mean nothing & they can just change them to whatever they want, ad infinitum… which is incredibly disrespectful, but I digress.

My maternal grandmother was Elizabeth Cecelia.
My paternal grandmother was Ruby Jo.
I was named Cecelia Jae.

Cecelia is a family name that goes back generations, crossing an ocean, originating in Poland; named for the Catholic Saint Cecelia, the patron saint of music.

My mother didn’t like the sound of “Cecelia Jo” – so she decided to tweak it a bit to “Jae”.

I’m so very tired today; apologies for the short answer. Where did your name come from? I wish I had the energy to discuss this further, but that will have to wait.

Twosday… be nice, now, y’hear? 22.August.23

{pain} 4 I binged some sugar & chocolate yesterday… just needed a fix.🤦🏻‍♀️
{sleep} 6h 44m – I had bubble hash & I slept well.

Snagged off 🧵

Busy day today; traveling Tuesday – with a counseling appointment & shopping for the trip to Chicago tomorrow. (TOMORROW! – time just skips sometimes, I swear it does). I ….

just lost a few hours because I had to go traveling on this Tuesday. I saw an old friend of Rœgn’s who now works at Starbucks & is going to ASU online, which is such an opportunity & I am soooo happy for her. I was able to visit my therapist, which was nice. Too much has changed since the last time I saw her, now I need to journal everything that I missed so I don’t forget next time.

I hope you are having a good day – for real.
Talk Soon,

Monday, August 21st, 2023 -TDP Writing Enjoyment

What do you enjoy most about writing?

The Questioner

I wish I could say, “creating the worlds, characters, etc.” but no, that’s not it. What I enjoy most about writing is the *deep breath sigh* letting go…

Usually I have an idea rumbling around in my mind for days, sometimes longer, and writing feels like a giant exhale of air. My mind feels better when I can get the idea down into words.

I’ve had Seneca on the brain today. I hope you have a lovely day…

CC&K – Be oBEdient, B. E. oh-BEdient! Luke 5: 1-11 Stephen Robison, Pastor of Worship & Media

Good day to you! I hope these words find you well and that you recognized the cheer, “Be aggressive! B. E. Aggressive!” That is one that I heard many times at high school & college football games. Bryan is taking another Sunday morning off; he continues to work on his second Doctorate. The Pastor of Worship & Media, Stephen Robison, took the mic this morning & did a bang up job! I am brewing ☕️ Motor City Breakfast Blend & am about to roll up 🍃 Jealousy 💨 – we will be in Luke 5 today studying one of the thirty-seven miracles in the canonical gospels, so let’s get started!

oBEdient – Luke 5: 1-11 – Stephen Robison, Pastor of Worship & Media

On one occasion, while the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret, & he saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat.

And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.”
And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking. They signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.

But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon.

And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men. And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.

Luke 5: 1-11 (ESV)

“Sometimes obeying God doesn’t have the outcome you, or I, desire” but it is for our good, like Romans 8: 28 tells us. The Lord’s definition of “good” is definitely different than our own selfish ideal. Just when you think there isn’t any hope in a situation, when you’re putting your boat on shore, just when you think you’ve given everything you’ve got… God is saying, “It’s not over, just let me have your boat.”

Miraculous Fishing by: Cornelis Galle & Adriaen Collaert
  • How often do we think that what God is asking for is ‘too much’?
My life is pretty great… right where I am, here in the shallows, I’m safe! I’m comfortable! I’m happy!
  • How often do we stay to the shallows? What would it mean for us to go ‘deep sea fishing,’ to step out in faith & follow the path God sets out for you?
Peter is no different, his first response in verse 5 is, ‘well, we just worked ALL NIGHT & dude, you’re not even a fisherman! Now is NOT the right time for fishing, but *
said in that snotty 12-year-old voice* if you say so, Master, we will.’ -He tosses that ‘Master’ in to not sound indignant & to show respect, I think.
“Not going to let someone tell me how to do my job!”

“To be defensive is to react with an overprotective mentality to a situation that perhaps doesn’t warrant it… Rather than listening with an open heart we respond with our metaphorical shield’s up! & weapon’s drawn.”

Linda Carroll, therapist
While He Is Dining With Simon by: Mary Evans Picture Library
  • The Lord attempts to educate & inform us through unorthodox people, many times the very last person you’d expect.
Jesus utilized & interacted with the marginalized & the unorthodox every. single. day. (That is my personal opinion as it is impossible to know what he did every day, however, considering what they chose to write about, I feel strong in my opinion).
Cross Reference: The woman at the well in John 4; the healing of the Centurion’s servant in Matthew 8; the healing of the woman with the issue of blood; the calling of Levi, a tax collector, in Mark 2; the woman caught in adultery in John 8; and most well known, the Good Samaritan in Luke 10… all people that were outside of Jewish society.

The marginalized of society were Jesus’ people. How often do we say, “They don’t know what they’re talking about!”
  • Whatever God is calling us to do, we should NEVER run in the opposite direction the Lord is leading us.
Jonah is the obvious example of this very fact, as it is impossible to outrun an omnipotent, omnipresent Creator God.
    🤷🏻‍♀️ (duh?) 😆
Because of Simon Peter’s obedience, a lot of people were blessed with the gospel & a lot of fish!
  • We must stop wanting to be the potter/sculptor in our life; the Lord is the potter & we are the clay.
The Lord meets us where we are in life, he does not expect us to get ourselves sorted prior to asking for salvation!
We are all human beings, sinners who fall short of the glory of God; but God can use ordinary people to do extraordinary things!
How often do you remain in the shallows of your life because it is a safe & cozy place?

“Be obedient even when you do not know where obedience may lead you.”

Sinclair Ferguson

Stephen ends with, “Just like [the disciples], when Jesus asks us to do something, we should obey – even if it means we might be uncomfortable for a while.”

——————————————What is God asking you to do?

My answer to that final question was a list of things I know the Lord has been nagging me about & I have been steadfastly ignoring. One of those is expanding this blog with more articles, specifically a midweek “Wednesday Evening Service”-type article – look forward to changes on the way!

May the rest of your day be special…

Sunday, August 20th, 2023 -TDP -Where I live?

What do you love about where you live?

The Questioner

Ohhhhh, buddy! Here we go… you ready for this???

We live in Casey, Illinois, which is a town that not many years ago was dying. I mean that quite literally, as it is a city with mostly an ‘older’ population. Even though it was directly on Interstate 70, it was not making any money – there was no reason to be here! One of the business owners decided to change that & you can read the history of the town on the website.

I love that we live in “Honey I Shrunk the Kids” – & that our small town now attracts tourists from all over the world.

We met these crunchy mama’s one day & that backpack? Those are their birds! (They were so cute & friendly, too)

We became a small town of “Big Things” thus… http://www.bigthingssmalltown.com – I encourage you to check it out. & if you find yourself traveling across Illinois, send me a message! I’ll buy you a cuppa from Casey Coffee Co. or The Traveling Mug & we can mosey around town! (Or zoooom in a golf cart) 🛺
👉🏻I’m going to work on my CC&K post for the day. I hope your Sunday is treating you well! Take a deep breath & do something nice for someone today, even if it’s just a text. You’ll feel better for it!
